Here's my Dad

My Dad My father, also named Donald, was born in Jersey City, N.J. in 1934.  He was raised there most of his childhood by my grandmother.  His father left them both when he was a small child.  In 1957 he managed to dodge the draft by enlisting into the armed forces.  He served 2 years in the Army - 6 of those months spent TDY in Hawaii (back when Hawaii was a territory and not a state).  After getting out of the Army his mother introduced him to my mom.  They dated for a little more than 2 years and eventually got married. My father is the mellow one in the relationship, which is the complete opposite of my mother.  How they managed to get along all these years is beyond the wisdom of modern science.  I guess the ol' adage, "opposites attract" really applies here.  My dad is now retired and living quietly in Albuquerque with my mom - or at least trying to.
