Windows 2000/XP or Windows Server 2003 Fresh Installation

Follow
the instructions in this section if you are performing a new installation of
Windows 2000/XP or Windows Server 2003, and you wish to boot from device(s)
attached to the SiI controller.
NOTE: If installing Windows 2000, you must first edit the txtsetup.oem file on the driver installation disk and delete the line from the [Config.Si3112r] section that reads:
value = Parameters\PnpInterface, "5", REG_DWORD, 1

Power off the system. Connect the hard drives to the SiI controller and
insert the controller into a PCI slot. Connect serial ATA cable(s) between the
SiI controller and the serial ATA device(s). Then, power up the system.
2.
Put your Windows 2000/XP or Windows Server 2003 CD into the CD-ROM / DVD drive,
or the Windows 2000 boot diskette #1 in the floppy drive if your system cannot
boot from the CD.
3.
Press F6 for third party SCSI or driver installation at the beginning of text
mode installation. Press 's' when setup asks if you want to specify an
additional device, and insert the diskette labeled 'Silicon Image Raid Driver
Installation Disk' . Press 'Enter' and select 'Silicon Image Raid Controller'
that corresponds to the version of Windows being installed

Press 'Enter' to continue on with text mode setup.
5.
Follow the setup instructions to select your choice for partition and file
system.
6.
After setup examines your disks, it will copy files to Windows installation
folders and restart the system. The setup program will continue and finish the
installation after restart.
7.
Wait until Windows finishes installing devices, regional settings, networking
settings, components, and final set of tasks, reboot the system if it is
required.

Windows

Follow
the instructions in this section if you are performing a new installation of
Windows Vista and you wish to boot from device(s) attached to the SiI
controller.
1.
Power off the system. Insert the SiI Raid controller into an available
PCI slot. Connect cable(s) between the SiI controller and the device(s). And
power up the system.
2.
Put your Windows Vista DVD into the DVD-ROM drive, and insert the diskette
labeled 'Silicon Image SiI Raid Driver Installation Disk' into your floppy
drive.
3.
When Vista starts from the DVD, change the displayed language and keyboard
preferences if necessary and click ‘Next’, then click ‘Install now’ from the
following screen.
4.
Enter your product key and click next.
5.
Check the box ‘I accept the license terms’ and click ‘Next’.
6.
Click the box labeled ‘Custom (advanced)’.
7.
Click the icon labeled ‘Load Driver’, then, on the ‘Load Driver’ dialog that
pops up, and then click ‘OK’.
8.
On the ‘Select the driver to be installed’ screen, select the item labeled
‘Silicon Image SiI Controller’ and click ‘Next’. Windows will now load
the driver.
9.
You should now see the drive you installed in step 1 displayed on the
screen. Click ‘Drive options (advanced)’.
10.
Ensure that the unallocated space of the drive you installed in step 1 is
highlighted and then click ‘New’. From the size box that appears specify
the size of the partition to be created to contain the Vista OS installation,
and then click ‘Apply’.
11.
Ensure that the partition created in the previous step is selected and click
‘Next’.

Adding the SiI SATARaid controller to an existing Windows 2000/XP or Windows
Server 2003 installation

Follow
the instructions in this section to install the Silicon Image SiI driver on a system
already running Windows 2000/XP or Windows Server 2003.
1.
Power off the system. Connect the hard drives to the SiI controller and
insert the controller into a PCI slot, power up the system.
2.
During OS boot up, Windows will display the 'Found New Hardware Wizard'. Click
'Next'.
3.
Select 'Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended)' and Click
'Next'.
4.
Under 'Optional search locations' insure that 'Floppy disk drives' is checked.
5.
Insert the diskette labeled ' Silicon Image Raid Driver Installation Disk' into
A: and click 'Next'.
6.
When the wizard indicates that it found a driver for the device click 'Next'.
7.
If the 'Digital Signature Not Found' dialog appears, click 'Yes' to continue
installing the driver.
8.
The wizard will now copy the required files to the system and start the
driver. After starting the driver the wizard will display a completion
dialog, click 'Finish' to exit the wizard.

Adding the SiI SATARaid controller to an existing Windows Vista installation
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Follow
the instructions in this section to install the Silicon Image SiI controller
into a system already running Windows Vista.
1.
Power off the system. Insert the SiI controller into an available PCI
slot. Connect cable(s) between the SiI controller and the
device(s), then power up the system.
2.
During OS boot up, Windows will display the 'Found New Hardware' dialog.
Click the box labeled 'Locate and install driver software (recommended)'.
If presented with the ‘User Account Control’ dialog, click the button labeled
‘Continue’.
3.
From the next screen select ‘Don’t search online’.
4.
Insert the diskette labeled ‘Silicon Image SiI Driver Installation Disk’ into
the floppy drive and click the button labeled ‘Next’.
5.
Windows will now begin to install the driver software. If presented with
‘Windows can’t verify the publisher of this driver software’ dialog, click the
box labeled ‘Install this driver software anyway’.
6.
After the driver installation finishes, see the instructions in Verifying
Controller Installation to verify the controller was installed correctly.

Update SiI SATARaod driver on Windows 2000 with existing Silicon Image driver
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With
the Silicon Image controller already plugged in and the driver already
installed. Follow the instructions to update SiI SATARaid driver.
1.
Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'. Under the 'System
Properties' section, click on 'Hardware' tab, and then on 'Device Manager'
click 'SCSI and SATARaid Controller' and right click 'Silicon Image
Raid Controller', then select 'Properties' from the context menu.
2.
Click 'Driver', 'Update Driver' and select 'Display a list of the known drivers
for this device so that I can choose a specific driver'. Insert the
diskette labeled 'Silicon Image SiI Driver Installation Disk' into the floppy
drive. Click 'Next'.
3.
Click 'Have Disk'. On the 'Install from Disk' dialog ensure that the
correct floppy drive is specified and click 'OK'.
4.
Click 'Next' until the installation process begins. If presented with a dialog
warning about an unsigned driver click 'Yes' to accept it.
5.
System will go through the enumeration process and install the driver.
At the end of the process, click 'Yes' to reboot your system when
necessary.

Update SiI SATARaid driver on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 with existing
Silicon Image driver

Follow
the instructions in this section to update the driver for the SiI controller on
systems running Windows XP or Windows Server 2003.
1.
Right click on 'My Computer' and select 'Properties'. Under the 'System
Properties' section, click on 'Hardware' tab, and then on 'Device Manager'
click 'SCSI and SATARaid Controllers' and right click 'Silicon Image SiI
Controller' then select 'Properties' from the context menu.
2.
Select the 'Driver' tab, and then click the 'Update Driver' button.
3.
Select 'Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)' and click 'Next',
4.
Make sure 'Search for the best driver in these locations' and 'Search removable
media (floppy, CD-ROM...)' are both selected and then click 'Next'.
5.
As the installation process begins you may be presented with a dialog warning
about a non-logo driver, click 'Continue Anyway' to continue the installation.
6.
If at the end of the installation process you are prompted to reboot the system
click 'Yes'.

Update SiI SATARaid driver on Windows Vista with existing Silicon Image
driver

Follow
the instructions in this section to update the driver for the SiI controller on
systems running Windows Vista.
1. Click
the Start icon then right click on ‘Computer’ and select ‘Manage’ from the
context menu. If presented with a User Account Control dialog,
select ‘Continue’.
2. Select
‘Device Manager’ in the left pane, and then double click on ‘Storage
Controllers’ in the right pane.
3. Under
the Storage Controllers category, right click on the item ‘Silicon Image SiI
Controller’ and select ‘Properties’ from the context menu.
4. On
the properties dialog select the ‘Driver’ tab and then click the button labeled
‘Update Driver’.
5. Click the box labeled ‘Browse my computer for
driver software’.
6. Click
the box labeled ‘Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer’.
7.
Click the button labeled ‘Have Disk’.
8.
On the ‘Install From Disk’ dialog either click the ‘Browse’ button or specify
the path to where the updated driver package resides on the system (example
A:\), and then click the ‘OK’ button.
9. Click the ‘Next’ button. Windows will
begin installing the updated driver software. If presented with a dialog
indicating that Windows can’t verify the publisher of the driver software click
the box labeled ‘Install this driver software anyway’.
10. If
at the end of the installation process you are prompted to reboot the system
click ‘Yes’.

Verifying controller installation
----------------------------------
Follow
the instructions in this section to verify that the controller was installed
correctly.
For
Windows 2000/XP and Windows Server 2003,
1.
Right click on 'My Computer' icon, select 'Properties', left click on
'Hardware' tab, and then on 'Device Manager' button.
2.
Double click on 'SCSI and SATARaid Controllers', if there is no yellow '!'
or '?' in front of
'Silicon Image Raid Controller', the driver is started correctly.
3.
To view information about the devices attached to the controller, click the
'Silicon Image SiI Controller' and select Properties from the context menu,
then select the tab labeled 'Device Info'.
For Windows
1. Click
the Start icon then right click on ‘Computer’ and select ‘Manage’ from the
context menu. If presented with a User Account Control dialog,
select ‘Continue’.
2. Select
